Curated by Jason Hackett
"The premise of this exhibition explores clay as a contemporary art material strongly connected to its history and traditions. Recognizing the responsibility art has to question and reflect culture, Hackett presents a selection of work by artists who investigate overlapping themes of ceramics, function, art, and life. This exhibition honors six artists: Blair Clemo, Sin-Ying Ho, Mathew McConnell, Adam Shiverdecker, Linda Sikora, and Stan Welsh."

While 3D printing has been in development for years (see BGSU's project under Greg Pugh and John Balistreri), Jonathan Keep has been demonstrating how the average artist can use and adapt these technologies for the small studio. His solutions are very hands-on, very "crafted," and very well conceptualized. His blog and portfolio is worth a look. Click on the image to link:
A nice profile of Edmund de Waal, who will soon be showing at Gagosian.
New Work by Tom Lauerman and Fabio Fernandez. I was lucky enough to have shown with these guys last year. The humble little pieces these two make together always somehow seem to be just right. I'm anxious to see the new work!

After three years of serving us as a Resident Artist, Studio Technician, and Adjunct Faculty, we are saying farewell to Jinsoo Song. Jinsoo is departing Fayetteville to join The Clay Studio in Philadelphia. We wish him the best and are thrilled about his transition to Philadelphia. Jinsoo has been a trusted colleague and generous mentor to many of our students He will be missed.
Filling Jinsoo's role will be Kensuke Yamada, who recently arrived in Fayetteville from—you guessed it—The Clay Studio in Philadelphia! We're excited to welcome him to the team, and promise we won't call him Jinsooke or Kensoo.

A feature on the annual Peter's Valley anagama firing.
A scathing, open letter to students at Goldsmith College students in London. It's worth a read, for sure. Basically, it calls out the ways that critique can ultimately lapse into complicity—a worthwhile concern for any student that is trying to understand how to effectively engage with societal concerns.
The clay pieces are from a few years back. I must have missed them at the time, but they're worth taking a look at. He's interested in turds, mainly, it seems.
